Behind the Brand
What innovations is Grundfos working on that will help facility managers be more successful in their roles?
Grundfos smart pumping solutions help facility managers combat rising energy costs and meet their sustainability targets. Our intelligent e-pumps combine energy-efficient pumps, motors, drives, and advanced controls into a single solution that can significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while improving system performance and comfort.
Our e-pumps use real-time data with parameters like water flow and system pressure to measure system requirements. With ultra-premium efficiency IE5 motors, you get the highest level of efficiency to reduce energy loss, while an integrated VFD makes it possible to adjust and control speed and flow more automatically for optimized system performance. Together, this all-in-one solution makes it easy for FMs to achieve maximum energy savings in their HVAC and plumbing systems.
And seamless integration with building management systems gives you the ability to constantly monitor the setup, as well as full access to data that can be used for continuous optimization.
How is your Grundfos improving the FM industry?
At Grundfos we understand the pain points of high-maintenance traditional chilled water systems that are difficult and costly to keep balanced, and the negative consequences of not doing so. That’s why we developed a smarter hydronic system design – Grundfos Distributed Pumping removes traditional balancing & control valves and replaces them with intelligent, low HP, maintenance-free pumps at each air terminal unit. This means the system is equipped with components that provide the perfect flow at the right pressure, automatically balancing the system 24/7, resulting in a system that is easier to operate and control, and consistently provides ideal indoor temperatures without wasting energy. Grundfos Distributed Pumping is not only transforming the HVAC industry, it’s also transforming the efficiency at The Museum of Flight in Seattle. After converting their existing system to Distributed Pumping, they achieved 74 percent pump energy savings, as well as 20 percent Delta T optimization at the chiller.
Tell us your “why” in the FM world.
At Grundfos we understand the challenges facility managers face like preventing breakdowns, adhering to tight budgets, and reducing building energy consumption. That’s why we are determined to be the best pump & pumping solutions partner when it comes to creating energy-efficient HVAC and water installations in commercial buildings. As an established industry leader, we play a significant role in driving energy efficiency, and it is a responsibility we take very seriously.
A key part of this is developing high-quality, reliable solutions. Because if our solutions are not of sufficient quality, they will not last. And without reliable systems, we cannot ensure safe, comfortable buildings. And when we work to ensure reliability through quality, we in turn deliver long-lasting, high-performance products.
We’re also moving away from a pure pump approach to focusing on pre-fabrication and modular systems. It’s a key enabler of improved quality, reliability, and efficiency because everything comes from a single supplier. As the manufacturer of many of the vital components of our pumping systems, we make sure each part is built from the best materials in state-of-the-art facilities, and stringently tested to deliver maximum durability you can depend on for reliable uptime.
Why should FMs pick you as a partner?
Grundfos is dedicated to providing the best resources and tools to support facility managers. We have specialized teams with technical and service expertise that provide prompt and knowledgeable customer support you can rely on. Our experienced Aftermarket Team can provide both preventive maintenance health checks and energy optimization audits. Whether you're looking for a quick, automated analysis, or a comprehensive evaluation, we have an optimization solution to help you reduce energy consumption and improve operational costs.
In fact, our Aftermarket team helped 345 California, a 48-story LEED Platinum-certified building in San Francisco, save 25 percent energy annually by upgrading an aging domestic water pressure boosting system to a high-efficiency Grundfos Hydro MPC Quadruplex system in 2024.
